Welcome to the BFI National Library Catalogue
How to Search
This catalogue allows you to search through the records of items held by the library.
- If you know the name of the Author and/or Title of an item, use the Title/Name search option.
- If you know what subject area the item is in, use the Subject search option.
Please note, it may be necessary to use truncation as the wording of our subject headings is specific to our library.
To use truncation start your search with the percentage sign. For example, entering %act will find all subject terms containing this string of letters.
e.g. Abstract films as well as Actors and Interactive television
- If you have none of the above, use the Keyword search option to find all items under that keyword.
- If you know the title of the series but are unsure of the actual title of the book, use the Series search option.
- The Advanced search can be used to combine a number of search terms.
If you have any further queries library staff will be happy to help.
